“Letters to My Mother”, An Illustrated View of WWI, Through the Eyes of Rudie L. Wakefield, a Young Artist Turned Soldier. The exhibit will run until March 8, 2023, with a reception on January 19, 2023 from 6-8pm. The perfect combination of art and history, “Letters to My Mother” is a beautiful and moving collection of envelopes, each of which, has intricately drawn images detailing the war by a young artist turned soldier. Rudie L. Wakefield was an only child, who used his art skills to illustrate WWI on the letter envelopes he would send to his mother during the war. There are 47 intricately drawn envelopes, and one double sided letter, dated from 1917 through 1918. Although Rudie’s young life was cut short after his return from the war due to the effects of gas poisoning, we can celebrate his art and his story through this exhibition of his amazing work. Reception: January 19, 2023 from 6-8pm.
